Upwardly Global President and CEO Jina Krause-Vilmar was interviewed on the podcast “Breaking Through” with Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner (powered by MomsRising). The conversation focuses on the 2+ million immigrants, refugees, and asylees who are currently unemployed or underemployed in the United States despite labor shortages in many industries.

“There are 165,000 internationally trained doctors in the United States today who are not working as physicians,” explains Krause-Vilmar. “It is a real race for talent, because all states are struggling with [a shortage of] medical professionals. Unless we start problem solving around ‘How do we tap untapped talent? How do we welcome people into our communities?’ so that we can find and address those labor shortages, we are all going to be struggling, not only now, but into the future.”
