Public Board Meeting: How Immigrant and Refugee Women Can Support Workforce Gaps and Strengthen Our Communities

On May 19, 2022, Upwardly Global hosted a public board meeting focusing on “How Immigrant and Refugee Women Can Support Workforce Gaps and Strengthen Our Communities.”

The hour-long conversation featured a discussion with individuals who brought in expertise and lived experience from critical countries across the globe.

Speakers included Jeanne Batalova, Senior Policy Analyst and Director of the Migration Data Hub from the Migration Policy Institute (originally from Ukraine); Taciana Mello, The Girls on the Road Co-Founder and now the North America Communications Manager, Corporate Citizenship at Accenture (originally from Brazil); Ivana Mousa, currently at the Arab American Family Support Center (originally a journalist from South Sudan); Zuhal Salim, women’s activist from Afghanistan, now at Upwardly Global; Upwardly Global Chair Tammi Ling; and Upwardly Global President and CEO Jina Krause-Vilmar.
