Can Companies be Changemakers?

Upwardly Global's goal is to solve a problem with the labor market and we can't do it alone. We have a vision of a skilled workforce where foreign-born Americans have the same access and opportunity as those born in the US.  We need employers to be changemakers, to lead, and to drive other employers toward this vision. It's not about hiring a few immigrant jobseekers; it's about changing the system so that immigrants who join the US don't lose their careers.

This spring we created a ground-breaking partnership with JP Morgan Chase. They embraced our vision with creativity, commitment and voracity for change. We are working together to engage JP Morgan Chase employees across levels and lines of business as changemakers - to create new attitudes about immigrant candidates, to foster skills in cross-cultural hiring, and to connect new immigrant employees with existing internal support systems. Our partnership includes training, education, recruitment and employee engagement.  I even had the chance to meet with their CEO, Jamie Dimon. He is all about results and so is Upwardly Global. Yes, immigrant jobseekers are getting hired and restarting their careers - 4 in the last 4 weeks. More importantly, JP Morgan Chase is in it for the real result - solving the problem.

We need other companies that are willing to put their creativity and commitment behind solving this problem. We are especially interested in hearing from changemakers in the fields of insurance, consulting, consumer goods, legal and public/nonprofit.

All the best,
