Upwardly Global Supports Iraqi Refugees Around the Country
Ahmad is one of the lucky few Iraqis granted refugee status in the US after risking his life to report on the political situation in Iraq. But after a few months of unsuccessful job searching, Ali is unemployed and fending off persistent military contractors who are offering lucrative positions back in Iraq. "There are two choices: I either go back to Iraq and die or I forget about my past and profession and start from scratch in the US," says Ali. Read a recent press release to learn more.
Upwardly Global has been helping a group of Iraqi refugees who, like Ali, have been resettled all over the country with little government support for returning to their careers. We hope to create a more intensive program by hosting a 2-day job search seminar in Washington, DC for Iraqi professional jobseekers. This seminar would include workshops, one-on-one resume development, interview practice, advising by our Upwardly Global staff experts, and networking with American professionals. We are seeking corporate sponsors for this event. If you are interested in learning more about this sponsorship opportunity, please contact Jane Leu.
