Employer Outreach & Development Coordinator – San Francisco, CA

Upwardly Global is an award-winning nonprofit creating real opportunities for immigrant professionals by partnering with other nonprofits and small businesses to promote immigrant inclusion. Our clients are university educated but may have most recently worked as cab drivers, nannies, and security guards in the United States. However, in working with Upwardly Global, immigrant graduates of our program increase on average their annual incomes by $16,000 the first year.

Position Description:

The Employer Outreach and Development Coordinator will be responsible for developing and growing the Employer Network program to increase job placement outcomes for Upwardly Global jobseekers. The coordinator will also support Upwardly Global’s development and fundraising initiatives. This role is a one-year assignment through the AmeriCorps VISTA program. Responsibilities include:

• Identify industries and companies in which to develop relationships based on analysis of jobseeker and organizational needs
• Outreach to Upwardly Global alumni in the Bay area to cultivate employer relationships and drive volunteering
• Outreach to volunteer network for participants in industry roundtables, employer breakfasts etc. Coordination of these events under the guidance of the manager of employer partnerships
• Outreach to volunteer mentors to ensure support for jobseekers
• Present jobseekers for open positions; provide employers with ad-hoc education and coaching on hiring professional immigrant candidates
• Assist with donor appeals and other correspondence, quarterly reports etc.
• Provide administrative support for fundraising activities including Upwardly Global’s annual event, house parties and other special events

The Employer Outreach & Development Vista Volunteer will report to and be supervised by the Employer Network Manager.

The successful candidate for this position will be a results-oriented professional who loves to help the underdog win. The ideal candidate will be a self-directed, optimistic, high energy professional who is flexible and comfortable operating in a start-up environment. In addition, this person will possess the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (International Relations, Business Administration, or other applicable field)
• Personal San Francisco network preferred
• Confident public speaker
• General computer skills including MS Office and Google Apps
• Additional language skills a big plus
• Foreign-born applicants strongly encouraged

• Housing stipend of $500/month
• $4,725 Education Award upon completing one year of service
• $1232/month living stipend
• $250/year for approved professional development
• If moving to San Francisco from over 100 miles distance, there is a $500 relocation stipend
